Parchment Cake Pan Liners – The Easy Way

Parchment Cake Pan Liners – The Easy Way

I love to bake! I do not like when my cakes stick to the pan or form a heavy, brown crust. The solution… Parchment Cake Pan Liners! To me, they’re a lil bit of kitchen magic. And over the years I have found the best way to measure and cut the perfect round, while sparing your favorite knife from the dulling effects of cutting into a pan, is without a pen or a ruler. The steps below make it easy. And once you nail this technique, I’m betting from now on, you’ll line every pan, every time you bake a cake. It’s great for lining brownie pans too. And, makes clean up a snap. Divine!

Making Parchment Cake Pan Liners (1)
Tear a piece of parchment paper large enough to cover the full circumference of your pan, plus a few inches.

Fold the top right corner down to meet the bottom of the length of the parchment paper, so that a triangle is created, leaving some excess to the left of the triangle.

Tear the excess parchment paper off from the triangle. Ignore the rough edges as this will be trimmed down in the final product.

Now you have a triangle.

Fold the parchment triangle in half, creating a smaller triangle.

Fold the parchment in half again to create yet a smaller triangle.

Fold the parchment in half one last time, to create a smaller triangle (which also resembles a cone.)

Place the tip of the triangle in the center of your cake pan. If you hold the parchment between your index and middle fingers, you can use your thumb to mark where the parchment meets the rim of the pan (or you can mark this with a pen or pencil.) This will be where you trim the parchment so take note.

Using your thumb or the pen mark you made as a guide in the previous step, cut the parchment along the guideline in a semi-circular line, from end to end.

When you unfold the parchment paper, you will have a circle that should line your cake pan just right. Don’t worry if an edge is not perfect. And if you need to do a bit more trimming, you can simply fold the parchment again and give it another cut.

Insert your liner into a buttered or oiled cake pan and voila! You won’t need to use baking spray or flour to create a cake that’s easy to release and won’t easily burn.
