We love casseroles and brunch! So when you combine these two favorites into one easy to make, crowd pleasing Creme Brulee French Toast, we think that’s divine. We’ve been making this recipe for years and it’s graced many a special occasion table. It’s one of the best make a head meal centerpieces and it can be doubled, tripled or quadrupled for larger groups. We think it’s pretty special – special enough to make it our very first Divalicious recipe! It’s best prepared the night before you plan on baking and serving it and it’s equally as delicious reheated the day after it first comes out of the oven. But don’t count on having any leftovers. Creme Brulee French Toast Ingredients
- ½ Cup Butter
- 1 Cup Firmly Packed Brown Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Light Corn Syrup
- 1 Loaf Challah or French Bread
- 5 Large Eggs
- 1½ Cups Whole or Lowfat Milk
- 1 Tablsepoon Vanilla
- 2 Teaspoons Grand Marnier (May Substitute Orange Juice)
- ¼ Teaspoon Salt
Remove the crusts and ends of the bread and slice into six, 1” slices. In a saucepan, on medium low heat, melt butter with brown sugar and corn syrup, stirring until smooth. Pour sugar mixture into 9” x 13” baking dish and allow to set for a few minutes. Arrange sliced bread in the casserole dish accordingly. Whisk together remaining ingredients until smooth and pour over bread. Chill 8 hours (or overnight), bring to room temperature and bake at 350° for 35–40 minutes until puffed and edges just begin to brown. Serve hot or room temperature.
